The compatibility assessment: how match scores work
20 questions drawn from a bank of 110, based on the Big Five personality model, plus your lifestyle answers. Together they produce the match percentage you see on every roommate card.
What it is
When you create your Roommate profile you answer a short personality assessment: 20 questions, randomly drawn from a bank of 110, rated on a scale. It is built on the Big Five model (openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism). At the end you get your DomuHQ Personality Profile.
The assessment is combined with the lifestyle answers from your profile: cleanliness level, noise tolerance, sleep schedule, guest frequency, smoking and drinking habits, budget, move-in timeframe, and hobbies.
How the match score is calculated
Every other roommate profile shows a percentage with you. It is not a similarity score: the model looks for combinations that work day to day, so two tidy people with opposite sleep schedules can score lower than a tidy early bird and a relaxed early bird. Open a profile to see the breakdown: a short written summary of where you align and where you should talk things through, and Show All Matches for the individual factors.
Honest beats aspirational
Answering how you wish you were produces matches for that imaginary person. Answer for the real you; the model handles trade-offs, it cannot fix wrong inputs.
What others see
Only the percentage and the summary. Nobody sees your individual answers or your cleanliness rating.
Retaking it
Open Profile, My Hub, Manage Profile, then the Your Lifestyle tab and tap Retake. Retake after a real change (new job, switch between remote and office work, a pet). Scores with everyone update straight away.
Filters that use it
In Explore, Filters, the Lifestyle & Verification group lets you narrow results by lifestyle answers and by Verified status, and the AI-Powered Matches row at the top of Discover (DomuPlus) ranks the highest-scoring people for you.

Frequently asked questions
How many questions are there?
20 per assessment, drawn at random from a bank of 110, so a retake is never identical.
Is this Myers-Briggs?
No. It is based on the Big Five (OCEAN) model, which is the research-validated one. DomuHQ uses its own labels for the resulting profile.
Can I skip it?
You can leave it for later, but without it there is no match score on your card and you show up lower in other people's results.
Why do I see scores but cannot send a request?
Connection requests need DomuPlus or above (free until 2027) and a verified identity. See Complete your profile and get verified.
